Education

The root causes of poverty in the villages of Guatemala are lack of education and lack of resources.  GVH works to improve education so people can make the most of the resources at hand.

Education: 

  • Teach sanitation, nutrition, and how to use naturally occurring resources.

Local Health worker Training: 

  • Midwives learn about prenatal care, crisis management, and postpartum care.

Scholarships:

  • The Diana Orellana Scholarship Fund gives selected students who are in the top of their class, the opportunity to continue to attend further education geared towards honing the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in their home environment.

Student Volunteers from the US:

  • We bring medical doctors in residency training into the villages to broaden their experiences for their future work as doctors.

Our Mission

To improve individual and village health in rural Guatemala through education, empowerment of local leaders,
and development of local health providers.
