Executive Director

Vladimir Melgar - Guatemala
Project Manager & CIDECAS Director
Born and raised in Guatemala City, Vladimir studied design and construction. Some of his previous projects include building a 3-story retreat center in Monte Rico and the clinic from which Guatemala Village Health serves people. Vladimir has worked on home construction with international groups, focusing on underserved families in marginalized neighborhoods. He has built multiple GVH facilities in partnership with the Ministry of Health and New World Villages. Vladimir is motivated to help his fellow Guatemalans improve their lives in all areas, especially in nutrition, education, training and hygiene. He is the master toothbrush holder builder for remote villages GVH serves and has helped run the laboratory in many of our clinic days.

Santiago Melgar - Guatemala
Program Assistant & Pharmacy Manager
Santiago from Guatemala City is our Guatemala-based assistant. He takes on an array of responsibilities, especially during medical team trips to the villages. Santiago is passionate about pharmaceutics and is hoping to become a pharmacist. During clinic days in the villages, he manages our pharmacy, setting everything up and making sure that patients receive their prescriptions.

Lesbia Xi - Guatemala
Clinical Coordinator
Lesbia started with the organization in 2015. She likes to collaborate with the organization, her goal is to finish her career in professional nursing. Her passion is helping people. She particularly enjoys collaborating and working with women in the areas of planning, chronic illness, and pregnancy. She is originally from Chinabenque, speaks Q'eqchi and Spanish and would like to learn English.

Nineth Che Pop - Guatemala
Coordinator of Public Health Programs
Nineth is originally from the community of Esperanza Túnico, she began her work with GVH in February 2022. Her first work was surveying Ecofilters and the state of composting toilets in all the villages. She has also been involved with permaculture and the teeth program. In 2023 she dedicated her time to the census and mapping of the villages, as well as numbering the houses. She would like to expand the fluoride program in schools.

Julio Choc - Guatemala
Community Educator
Julio is originally from the village of Esperanza Túnico, where we have been working since 2012. He has worked with GVH since 2015 in the Children's Program and has also collaborated in schools with the Healthy Teeth Program. He speaks Spanish and Q'eqchí. He really likes collaborating and working with youth.
